Quezon City, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte has once again declined invitation to attend the House of Representatives’ ongoing investigation into the budget utilization of the Office of the Vice President (OVP), including its confidential funds for November 20, Wednesday.
In a letter dated November 19 addressed to House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability Chairperson and Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua, VP Duterte cited her previous experience during the September 18 hearing where she was not asked a single question.
This, she said, was the reason for her decision to skip the November 20 hearing.
“In view of the foregoing, I would like to respectfully inform you that I will not be attending the hearing scheduled on 20 November 2024,” Duterte wrote.
She also requested that her letter be included in the official committee records in lieu of her attendance.
The House panel issued the invitation on November 13, Wednesday.
