MANILA — Several local government units (LGUs) have announced class suspensions for Friday, October 25, in anticipation of the severe tropical storm Kristine.
The following areas have suspended classes across all levels:
- Albay (face-to-face classes only; suspension remains until lifted)
- Aurora
- Batangas
- Benguet
- Bulacan (face-to-face classes only)
- Camarines Sur (suspension remains until lifted)
- Cavite
- Dagupan City
- Ilocos Sur
- Laguna
- La Union
- Nueva Ecija
- Pangasinan
In Metro Manila, the following cities have also suspended classes:
- Caloocan City
- City of Manila
- Las Piñas City
- Malabon City
- Marikina City
- Muntinlupa City
- Parañaque City
- Pasay City
- Pasig City
- Quezon City
- San Juan City
- Valenzuela City (except online college classes)
In other parts of the country, class suspensions include:
- Antique: Barbaza
- Cagayan: Tuguegarao City, Enrile, Solana
- Capiz: Dao (face-to-face only, until lifted), Sapian (until lifted)
- Sorsogon: Pilar (until lifted), Sorsogon City (until lifted)
- Isabela: Echague, Cauayan
- Mountain Province: Paracelis
- Occidental Mindoro: San Jose, Mamburao
- Negros Occidental: Talisay
- Pampanga: Mabalacat (face-to-face classes only)
- Quezon: Mulanay
- Rizal: Jalajala, Teresa
- Tarlac: La Paz, Concepcion, Santa Ignacia, Bamban
Additional suspensions from elementary to senior high school levels have been announced for the following areas:
- Cagayan: Santo Niño
- Quezon: Gumaca
- Tarlac: Tarlac City
- Sorsogon: Juban
According to PAGASA’s 5 p.m. advisory on Thursday, Kristine was last spotted over the coastal waters of Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur.
The storm has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching up to 145 kph.
Signal No. 3 is in effect over northern Luzon, while Signal No. 2 is up in the Cagayan Valley region and parts of Central Luzon and the Cordillera Administrative Region. Signal No. 1 covers Metro Manila, Batanes, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and parts of the Bicol region.
Kristine is projected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday.
