Manila, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has identified the two suspects in the shooting of an intelligence officer of the PNP Highway Patrol Group.
In a CCTV video on August 1 in Makati City, the police officer can be seen talking to two other men when the assailants suddenly approached him.
According to Highway Patrol Group (HPG) spokesperson Police Lieutenant Nadame Malang, authorities are now tracking down the suspects.
Malang also added that they are still investigating whether the crime may be connected to the officer’s work.
The victim sustained bullet wounds in his shoulder and abdomen and is now in stable condition.
Malang said the intelligence officer has set to meet a confidential agent in Makati City over the weekend for his sensitive cases.
Initial investigations revealed that it was a robbery after the police officer was robbed of his service pistol, necklace, cellphone, and wallet during the incident.
