The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), in partnership with San Juan and Quezon City local governments, conducted a major clean-up at Lambingan Bridge along the San Juan River under the ‘Bayanihan sa Estero’ program.
The initiative, led by MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes and San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora, aims to reduce flooding and improve sanitation by clearing waste from waterways.
This effort supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s socio-economic agenda for disaster resilience and better infrastructure. Heavy equipment like backhoes and dump trucks were used for dredging and clearing operations.
Mayor Zamora thanked MMDA for its support, while both he and Chairman Artes encouraged public participation in proper waste management.
Miss Earth Philippines candidates, DENR volunteers, TUPAD beneficiaries, and ride-hailing companies like Grab, Angkas, Joyride, and Move It also participated, promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.
