Manila, Philippines – Amidst the ongoing probe on the potential corruption behind the anomalous flood control projects across the country, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has mandated a lifestyle check on all officials of the government.
Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro in Wednesday’s press briefing noted that this is part of the national government’s approach and measure to ensure that involved individuals will be held liable, especially if they are government officials.
Castro revealed that the lifestyle check may possibly start with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as well as the other agencies that may be related to the issue.
Malacañang also reiterated the President’s determination to seek accountability from involved individuals.
Aside from contractors, the Palace emphasized that Marcos will not hesitate to drop the names of involved individuals, whether they be congressmen, senators, and politicians.
The lifestyle check will be spearheaded by the agencies that cover these officials, like the Office of the Ombudsman, DPWH, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), at iba pa.
The Palace also called on other related agencies to start and join the investigations.
Presently, Marcos has personally inspected 11 flood control projects in Marikina, Iloilo, Bulacan, and Benguet, while the sumbongsapangulo.ph remains open to public complaints regarding the same issue.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
