Manila, Philippines – Social Weather Stations’ (SWS) latest survey released in September tallied the percentage of Filipino families victimized by crimes, citing decline in most areas as of June 2025.

Reports of victimization by common crimes were found at 8.6% in June, one percentage lower than April’s tally.

Common crimes include pickpocketing or robbery of personal property, break-ins, carnapping, and physical violence.

To detail, property crimes—like pickpocketing, burglary, and carnapping—victimization rate slightly fell to 8.3% in June from 8.7% in April.

Victims of street robbery also dropped one point to 6.0% in June, reporting a fall in rate in all areas except metro Manila with a higher 14.3%.

Carnapping victimization declined to 0.5% in June 2025, attributed to lower cases in Metro Manila and Balance Luzon.

Lower victimization cases of physical violence were also reported on June 2025, placed at 0.5% from April’s 1.0%.

Despite the decline in most common crimes, Filipino families who were victimized by break-ins rose at 3.3%, resulting in the slight increase of incidents in Balance Luzon and Mindanao areas.

Cybercrime victims, meanwhile, also largely declined to 4.9% in June from 7.6% in April of the present year.

On the other hand, SWS also reported the fear rate in June, with 55% of Filipino adults, fearing burglary, while 46% afraid of walking at night.

While burglary fearness in Metro Manila and Balance Luzon increased, fear of unsafe streets fell in all areas in June.

Similarly, the visibility of drug addicts declines in all areas.
