KMU LAUNCHES ‘MAJOR NATIONAL PROTEST AGAINST GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION’ ON NOVEMBER 30 FOR ANTI-CORRUPTION ACTION

Manila, Philippines – The Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) has announced that it will launch a Major National Protest Against Government Corruption, together with various organizations of Filipino workers under the Working People Against Corruption (WPAC), in response to the worsening corruption in government.

The protest will be held at Luneta on November 30, 2025, to call for the removal of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte from office, saying they are merely diverting the public’s attention from the alleged deep and widespread corruption in the country, which both camps allegedly benefit from.

KMU aims to condemn what it describes as “excessive and systematic corruption” in government and to call for accountability and transparent governance.

According to Ruby Bernando of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers, education personnel and future teachers stand united, saying the situation in the country has become unacceptable, while students continue to struggle and make sacrifices as those allegedly involved in irregularities remain in power.

She added that under the administration of President Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte, education personnel attest that the crisis in the education sector has deepened, pointing not only to the widespread confidential funds of the Department of Education but also to the distribution of substandard learning materials left to them.

Aside from the November 30, 2025 rally, they also called on the education sector to support a planned strike on November 28 to demand funding for education, salary increases, and other needs.

Meanwhile, Eliazar Sobinsky of the Lung Center of the Philippines Employees Association said that many benefits have still not been provided to their workers by the government.

He added that if funds had been allocated to hospitals instead of substandard projects, many more patients could have been treated and assisted.

Filipino workers, WPAC, KMU, and other allied groups are expected to gather at Luneta for a major rally aimed at highlighting demands for accountability, fighting corruption, and establishing a genuine government.

The group also encouraged the public to join the protest action in pursuit of accountability and justice for the nation.—Grachella Corazon, Eurotv News
