Manila, Philippines – Amid the current political crisis faced by the administration in relation to corruption issues, Vice President Sara Duterte expressed readiness to assume the presidency should the Marcos admin topples.
In a media interview in Davao City, Duterte said that there is no question on her readiness to succeed the post as this is what was required from her.
Duterte noted that when she presented herself and run as the Vice President of the country, she was aware of her responsibilities as the second highest official, should the current President resign or be ousted.
She added that this is what is expected of her as the first in line of presidential succession, as mandated by the Constitution.
This was a clearer answer from Duterte, compared to her response the first time she was asked about her readiness in presidency succession.
When asked about this on Sunday, VP Sara denied to respond, saying that this may lead to chaos.
Amidst the corruption scandal in the country, more and more people calls for transparency and accountability from individuals involved in the issue, especially from the government officials tagged in this mess.
Some have also raised calls for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s resignation or impeachment, especially after former lawmaker Zaldy Co implicated him in the budget insertion scandal.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
