Manila, Philippines – Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla addressed jokes and criticisms while leading police operations amid large demonstrations against corruption.
During a Presidential Communications Office (PCO) press briefing on December 1, 2025, Remulla emphasized that part of the DILG’s mandate is to maintain peace and order, especially during protests. He stated that it is their duty to ensure that activities proceed safely and smoothly while respecting the citizens’ right to express themselves and be heard.
Remulla added that it is normal to receive jokes or criticisms in the midst of complex situations, but he insisted that this will not hinder him from fulfilling his duties to the public.
