Palawan, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard on Friday (September 11, 2026) updated the number of missing amid the ongoing search and rescue operations for the passengers and crew of MV June Aster in the waters off Coron, Palawan.
The number of missing dropped to 84 from 87 as of 12:30 PM on Friday.
The PCG also released photos saying their firefighting team entered the vessel as they continued searching the passenger ship.
According to PCG Spokesperson Noemie Cayabyab, the number of survivors remains at 43, while the confirmed death toll from the incident stands at five.
Shortly after 10:00 a.m. today, the PCG conducted an aerial survey of the waters near Coron, Palawan.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing in the area to locate those who remain missing.
