MANILA, PHILIPPINES- Kinilala ng Commision on Elections (COMELEC) ang Mamamayang Liberal (ML) bilang Party-list noong Martes na nagbigay daan sa kanila upang makatakbo sa darating na eleksyon sa 2025.
Matapos ang masugid na pagsiyasat ng COMELEC en banc sa grupo ng ML, ito ay natukoy na nakalinya sa ipinapatupad na sistema ng Supreme court dahil sa hindi lamang isa ang pagtutuunan nitong sektor ng lipunan.
“By seeking to represent these varied sectors, the Petitioner (Mamamayang Liberal) underscores the interconnected nature of their advocacies, addressing labor rights, agricultural support, cultural preservation, urban social services, gender equality, youth empowerment, professional expertise, and LGBT rights. The petitioner was able to explain why it seeks to represent multiple sectors, emphasizing that while each sector is bound by its distinct attributes, they are united by their common goal of social justice,” ani ng COMELEC.
Nirerepresenta ng Mamamayang Liberal ang sektor ng mga manggagawa,magsasaka,mangingisda, Indigenous People, mga nasa laylayan, kababaihan, kabataan,at myembro ng LGBT community.
Ayon pa sa COMELEC, nabigyang diin ng ML kung bakit iba’t ibang sektor ang kakatawanin nila sa kadahilanang iba-iba man daw ang katangian ng bawat sektor pero nagkakaisa dahil sa kanilang “common goal of social justice”.

Pinangungunahan ang grupo ng ML ng kanilang presidente na si former Ifugao Representative Teodoro Baguilat Jr. katuwang ang punong kalihim nito na si Jobelle Joan Domingo.
Pahayag pa ng COMELEC, “This (Mamamayang Liberal) coalition ensures that they represent a sizable multisectoral constituency, enhancing their chances of winning a seat in Congress and effectively advocating for their collective interests. Thus, after a judicious review of the Petition, the Commission (En Banc) finds that Mamamayang Liberal complied with the requirements of pertinent laws and rules to entitle it to be registered as a regional sectoral organization under the party-list system of representation,”.
“Wherefore, premises considered, the Commission (En Banc) resolves to grant the petition of Mamamayang Liberal as a regional sectoral organization. Further, Mamamayang Liberal is hereby declared eligible to participate under the party-list of representation,” dagdag pa ng COMELEC.
Sa kabilang banda, itinakda ng COMELEC ang paghahain ng Certificate of Candidacy sa unang buwan ng oktubre para sa gaganaping May 2025 midterm elections.
