A PRODUCTIVE DISCUSSION: MARCOS SHARES CONCLUDED WORK VISIT IN US

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. concludes his official visit to Washington, D.C., on what was describe as a productive discussion with United States President Donald Trump and key government officials.

“This visit speaks of the breadth and depth of the alliance of the Philippines and the United States that span the various facets of our bilateral relations,” says PBBM in his arrival statement to formally conclude his work visit in the US, July 23, 2025 on social media.

Marcos highlights the strength and depth of the Philippines–U.S. alliance in different factors such as defense and security, economic cooperation, and trade relations.

Key outcomes of the visit explains the following:

• Defense and Security: Reaffirmation of the ironclad commitment to the Mutual Defense Treaty and plans for enhanced cooperation on cybersecurity, energy resilience, and critical infrastructure.

• Economic Cooperation: The U.S. pledged an additional US$15 million for the Luzon Economic Corridor Initiative and US$48 million in foreign-assisted projects. Investment pledges totaling over US$21 billion were also secured from global firms, potentially generating thousands of jobs for Filipinos.

• Trade Relations: Both leaders expressed optimism about the future of PH–U.S. trade, focusing on balanced and reciprocal investment and economic security. Yesterday (July 23, 2025), the US lowers the tariff rate for the Philippines to 19%, originally 20%. However, zero tariff was yielded for US products as part of the initiative to make the nation an “open market” to the Philippines, US President Donald Trump took on social media.

Marcos has also called upon Filipinos amid the still dangers of bad weather condition brought by Southwestern Moonson (Habagat) and three weather systems.
