Manila, Philippines- The Department of Budget and Management approved the creation of more than four thousand contractual jobs in the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4ps).
According to Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, in the progressive movement, the program helps to create more jobs in the country.
“Supporting the 4Ps is crucial to inclusive development, empowering families, and breaking the cycle of poverty in the Philippines. With this move, we are also generating employment opportunities, which in some ways help stabilize our economy,” said Sec. Pangandaman.
The target of the additional contractual positions is to increase the workforce of the DSWD so that the program can be managed more efficiently.
Based on the data, it is estimated that there are 3,976,653 household beneficiaries from over 41 thousand barangays nationwide.
This year, the DSWD also targets reaching 4.4 million beneficiaries of the program.
The funds that will be used to create 4,265 new jobs will be taken from the available allotment of the DSWD. In case of shortage, the necessary funds will be taken from the available appropriations in the FY 2024 General Appropriations Act.
