Manila, Philippines – The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) extends their condolences to the relatives of Leah Mosquera, who passed away in Israel due to her injuries from an Iranian missile attack in June.
“The Department of Migrant Workers deeply mourns the passing of OFW caregiver, Leah Mosquera, a victim of an Iranian missile attack on the City of Rehovot, Israel last 15 June 2025,” the DMW said on Sunday.
Leah underwent through several surgeries in Shamir Medical Center, and was admitted to its Intensive Care Unit where she fought for her life for several weeks.
According to the DFA, Leah’s sister, also working in Israel, was the one to inform them of the news.
Also, the DFA and DMW said they would be shouldering all the financial burden to bring her remains back home.
Her sister, Mae Joy, and her family will also be given additional financial assistance to cover her travel expenses to the Philippines and help with the funeral expenses.
The agencies praise her for her heroism and life’s legacy.
“Lovingly called Ate Leah by her friends, she would have celebrated her 50th birthday this July 29,” the Philippines Embassy in Tel-Aviv wrote in their statement. –Isa Estrellado, Contributor
