DFA REMINDS DIPLOMATS TO ABIDE VIENNA CONVENTION ON DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

Manila Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs reminded diplomats to be careful in getting false information related to the alleged ‘new model’ in Ayungin Shoal.

Likewise, the adherence to the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (VCDR) particularly in Article 14, not to interfere in the internal affairs of a country.

“…it is the duty of all persons……to respect the laws and regulations of the receiving State. They also have a duty not to interfere in the internal affairs of that State,” said the DFA in a statement based on Article 14 of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (VCDR).

According to the DFA, the false narrative results from tactics that come from unconfirmed documents, causes confusion among Filipinos.

“Resorting to tactics such as releasing unverifiable recordings of supposed conversations with Philippine officials could demonstrate efforts to sow discord and confusion among Philippine agencies and the Filipino public,” the DFA insisted.

In a statement, China said there allegations are based on evidences that it is difficult to deny regarding the alleged ‘new model’

“The facts are clear and backed by hard evidence that cannot be denied,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian.

China also insisted that the Philippines should follow their commitments and stop the provocation at once.

“China urges the Philippines to honor its commitment, stop maritime infringement and provocation at once, and return to the right track of properly handling disputes with China through dialogue and consultation,” added the Chinese official.

Yesterday, the Department of National Defense warned that it is possible to expel any Ambassador from the country once proven involved in Wiretapping or obtaining, recording unauthorized information.

Even the Armed Forces of the Philippines, said they will not recognize what the Chinese Embassy said regarding the new model in the ayungin shoal.

General Romeo Brawner Jr. said the AFP will remains to their sworn duty and encourage the public and journalists to avoid spreading unconfirmed information which leading confusions to the public.
