DMW EMPHATIZES WITH OFWS IN QATAR

Doha Qatar – Due to the Israeli strike on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac held a meeting with the Filipino community and Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) leaders in Qatar on September 10, 2025.

The meeting’s discussions focused on labor rights, reintegration programs, and new government initiatives to enhance services provided for migrant workers and their families.

“We’re here to listen, learn, and serve. Bilang inyong tahanan sa gobyerno, our mission is rooted in compassion and commitment to the welfare of every Filipino working abroad,” said Secretary Cacdac.

Another key highlight was the introduction of the Enhanced Reform Program for Domestic Workers, which features digital welfare monitoring systems, increased minimum wages, “Know Your Employer” protocols, and expanded health and support services.

“Every OFW deserves protection with dignity and compassion,” emphasized by Secretary Cacdac, reflecting the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the DMW to promote accessibility, responsiveness, and compassion in the services provided, especially to workers in distress.

This gathering reiterated the Philippine government’s support for more than 250,000 Filipinos living and working in Qatar in partnership with the Philippine Embassy in Doha, the community meeting united OFW leaders and representatives from the Filipino community.

It served as a platform for partnership, dialogue, and shared commitment with the DMW.

Furthermore, the Philippine delegation also held technical meetings and consultations with the Worker’s Support Insurance Fund of Qatar and the Ministry of Labour to toughen bilateral cooperation and ensure the effective delivery of frontline services to Filipino workers. – Rose Anne C.
