MANILA — Filipina drag queen Eva Le Queen didn’t anticipate the close bond she would form with fellow “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Global All Stars” contestant, Alyssa Edwards.
Alyssa, one of the most renowned queens from the U.S. reality show, gained popularity after competing in Season 5 and US All Stars 2.
The two queens first connected on “Global All Stars” but solidified their friendship during the latest episode, which aired Friday.
In the ninth episode, previously eliminated queens returned for a makeover challenge with the remaining contestants. During the challenge, Eva shared how fortunate she felt to have Alyssa as a mentor.
“They say never meet your idol. But this lady has given me dance lessons, put me in her makeup, told me I could join beauty pageants, and made me wear the most ostrich feathers I’ve ever had yet,” Eva said.
Even beyond the competition, Eva expressed how Alyssa continued to be a supportive figure in her life.
“We’ve shared a lot about who we are as Justin and Jace, and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would get to call the Alyssa Edwards my sister, with her cheering and rooting for me in and out of drag,” Eva shared.
“Such a beautiful life I have to have you in it! I love you to bones @AlyssaEdwards_1,” she added.
Eva and Alyssa received positive critiques from the judges, allowing Alyssa to remain in the competition for another week.
In response, Alyssa expressed her deep connection with Eva, saying, “I’m beyond touched by your words. To share this journey with you has been one of the greatest global gifts.
You have such a beautiful spirit, and I’m honored to call you my forever family. Here’s to many more feathers, laughs, and unforgettable memories. I love you endlessly.”
Eva, the Philippines’ representative in “Global All Stars,” finished her journey in 10th place. The Emmy Award-winning series has featured several Filipino drag queens throughout its many editions worldwide.
