HOSPITALS IN SOUTHERN GAZA FACE OIL SHORTAGE AS BORDER CROSSINGS REMAIN CLOSED

Hospitals in southern Gaza are at risk of running out of fuel, with only a three-day supply remaining, according to the World Health Organization’s Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Tedros, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), warned that the continued closure of border crossings is also hindering the United Nations’ ability to bring in necessary resources.

Border closures have had an impact not only on hospital operations, but also on the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Medical facilities are therefore having difficulty keeping up with demand.

Because to the ongoing war and military operations nearby, Al-Najjar Hospital has to stop the operation, one of the three medical facilities in Rafah.

“One of the three hospitals in Rafah, Al-Najjar, is no longer functioning due to the ongoing hostilities in its vicinity and the military operation in Rafah.”  WHO director said.

The WHO and other humanitarian organizations are urging immediate action to reopen border crossings and restore the flow of essential supplies to avert further humanitarian crises in southern Gaza.
