“Any threat directed towards President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is a matter of national security.”
This was the response of National Security Council regarding any threat against PBBM, saying that it is a serious matter to be responded with serious actions.
This comes after the statement of Vice President Sara Duterte which was perceived similar to an assassination remark against Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
In a statement, Duterte said that if she was killed, she have directed someone to also kill the three individuals mentioned.
National Security Adviser Eduardo Año stressed that they are now coordinating with law enforcement and intelligence agencies to investigate the said threat, the possible perpetuators, and the motive behind it.
Año emphasized their commitment to ensure the safety of Marcos, as well as to safeguard the Constitution, the Democratic Institution,a nd the Chain of Command in the country.
Following the threat, the presidential security group has imposed tighter security protocols for the safety and security of Marcos and of the first family.
VP SARA DEMANDS FAIRNESS FROM NSC: OVP RECEIVES THREATS TOO
On the other hand, Duterte has raised a brow on NSC’s reaction over her remarks. She affirmed that her statements were taken out of context, hence, asking NSC to be transparent on how they labelled it as a threat.
She also demanded the agency to show also respond this way and respond as well to the threats towards her, the OVP, and her personel.
Duterte argued that if her remarks were imposed as a threat towards the President, then the threats she and her office received should also get the same attention, as she holds the second highest position in the Philippine government.
