NEARLY 200 FILIPINO VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN CAMBODIA, RETURNS HOME

Manila, Philippines – Nearly 200 Filipino victims of human trafficking from Cambodia arrived in the country, Thursday morning. 

They are part of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) repatriation program from various regions in Cambodia. 

Of the 191 Filipinos, 169 of them came from Phnom Penh, 13 from Pailin, 3 from Koh Kong, 2 from Mondulkiri, three from Svay Rieng and one from Siem Reap. 

Amid the continued repatriation program, in total, 877 Filipinos have been repatriated from Cambodia. 

Filipinos will receive comprehensive support from the government, including financial assistance, welfare assistance, medical care, psychosocial support and legal aid. 

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac warned Filipinos looking for work abroad to be alert to the modus operandi and syndicates recruiting online. 

On Wednesday, Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Chair Erwin Tulfo, assured coordination with the DMW for the safety and welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers.—Alvin Pelobello, Eurotv News
