PBA Finals: Proceeds from Game 1 to Aid Victims of Typhoon Kristine

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) announced on Thursday that all proceeds from Game 1 of the 2024 Governors’ Cup Finals will be donated to the victims of severe tropical storm Kristine.

This decision was made by PBA Chairman Ricky Vargas and Vice Chairman Alfrancis Chua during a press conference held at Enderun Colleges in Taguig City, ahead of the highly anticipated match between the TNT Tropang Giga and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on Sunday, October 27.

“We spoke with Commissioner Willie Marcial and Chairman Ricky Vargas, and we decided that all proceeds from Sunday’s game will be donated. Every single cent,” Chua stated.

He continued, “While we are here preparing for the game, many of our fellow Filipinos are struggling—some are unsure if they still have homes or food.

Let us keep them in our prayers. I also urge anyone who can help to step forward and lend a hand to our brothers and sisters in need.”

The donation will be channeled through TV5’s Alagang Kapatid Foundation, as confirmed by Vargas.

Typhoon Kristine continues to impact the country, with Signal No. 3 raised in several parts of Northern Luzon.
