Manila, Philippines – It has been more than a week since two Filipino domestic helpers were reportedly missing in Hong Kong.
Mahilum Pabuaya and Aleli Perez Tibay were last seen at Lung Mun Country Trail at around 4 p.m. on October 4.
The Hong Kong police have also appealed to the public for the whereabouts of two Filipinos.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Philippine Consulate General is continuously coordinating with the Hong Kong police to locate two OFWs.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), in collaboration with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, has contacted the employer and relatives of the two Filipinos.
The DMW expressed concerned about the situation of the two missing Filipinos.
According to information from DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, before being reported missing, Pabuaya was able to send money to her family in the Philippines.
However, her employer later confirmed that the OFW was nowhere to be found.
The secretary also said that two missing Filipinos had no prior records of problems or complaints from their employers while working abroad.
According to Pabuaya’s relatives, the Filipina has only been in Hong Kong for a few months, while Tibay has been working in the country for several years.—Alvin Pelobello, Eurotv News
