South Korean President to Visit Philippines for Bilateral Talks with Marcos Jr.

MANILA — South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is set to visit the Philippines from October 6 to 7 for a state visit and a bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Invited by Marcos himself, this marks the first standalone bilateral visit of a South Korean president to the Philippines since 2011.

According to the Presidential Communications Office, Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will formally welcome President Yoon and First Lady Kim Keon Hee during a ceremony at Malacañang Palace on October 7.

The two leaders are expected to discuss several key areas of mutual interest, including political coordination, security and defense, maritime cooperation, economic and development partnerships, people-to-people exchanges, labor issues, and consular matters.

President Yoon’s visit also coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and South Korea.

South Korean Ambassador Lee Sang-hwa emphasized that the visit marks a significant milestone in the strong and growing partnership between the two nations.
