SPEAKER ROMUALDEZ URGES VP DUTERTE TO ADDRESS OVP FUND PROBE PERSONALLY

Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Thursday, November 21, called on Vice President Sara Duterte to appear at the House probe into her office’s use of confidential funds (CF) if she feels bad about her personnel being subjected to scrutiny.

“If she feels bad for her officials being questioned, then she should have shown up, taken the oath, and explained the situation herself,” Romualdez said in Filipino during the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair in Albay.

He added, “It seems only she knows what happened with the funds, so she should explain instead of passing the responsibility to her staff.”

The remarks followed Duterte’s statement expressing concern over what she described as attempts to drag her Office of the Vice President (OVP) staff into political persecution.

She argued that her colleagues were merely government workers affected by political attacks aimed at her.

“They’re not politicians; they’re just accustomed to working. Yet, they’re being dragged into moves to politicize even our central office,” Duterte said on Wednesday.
