THEATER DIRECTOR, PRODUCER BOBBY GARCIA PASSES AWAY

Manila, Philippines — Bobby Garcia, a renowned director and producer in the theater industry, has passed away, at age 55, television host Boy Abunda confirmed.  

Garcia’s (who directed more than 50 plays and led 65 productions) death was honored on the December 18 episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.” 

“Kami po ay nakikiramay sa pamilya at sa mga mahal sa buhay ni Bobby Garcia,” Abunda said.

“You will be missed, and wherever you are, I know you’re in heaven. But Bobby, I want you to know that you’re loved. Maraming, maraming salamat,” he added.

In 1999, Garcia founded Atlantis Productions, now Atlantis Theatrical Group of Companies. His works include “Request Concert” and “Request Sa Radyo” featuring Lea Salonga and Dolly de Leon. He also directed “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” in Manila and Singapore and was associate director for “Miss Saigon” (2000-2001).

The cause of death was not disclosed as of the time being.
