TOURIST SITES CLOSES, SUSPENDS OPERATIONS AMID WEATHER DISRUPTIONS

Manila. Philippines – Amidst the continuing heavy rains and flooding in various areas in the country brought by the existing weather systems, some tourist destinations have cancelled and suspended their operations.

In an advisory, the Department of Tourism (DOT) noted that there were various tourist sites have temporarily suspended its operations due to the impact of the calamity.

In NCR, People’s Park and Nature Park in Caloocan, the Tagalag Eco-Tourism park in Valenzuela, as well as some museums in Pasig, Makati, and San Juan have already closed.

Walking hours and exhibits in Intramuros have also been suspended.

In Benguet, Baguio City, Sagada, Ifugao and some Ecoparks are also closed. Caving, trekking, rafting activities and heritage tours have been cancelled as well.

Water-based and outdoor tourism activities in most regions have also been suspended.

Santo Domingo Bridge in Santiago City is now unpassable, while some ports and flights in Eastern Visayas have also closed.

DOT encourages the public to always assess risks and monitor the situations, as they plan for their tourism activities.
