TYPHOON AGHON DAMAGE TO AGRICULTURE REACHES P1B – NDRRMC

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that the damage to the agriculture sector has now reached to P1 billion.

This includes 1,369 affected farmers and fishermen, damage to livestock, poultry, and fisheries amounting to no less than P9,766,780.

The most affected region in the country is CALABARZON, followed by the MIMAROPA Region.

Regarding infrastructure damage, CALABARZON remains as the most affected, with damage amounting to P942,546,193.82.

According to the NDRRMC, 57 roads and 2 bridges in Region 3, CALABARZON, and Region 5 are still partially damaged.

The agency’s report also states that 6 people have died due to the typhoon, while 1 is injured and 7 are missing (under validation).

Overall, 887 barangays, 41,105 families, and 152,266 individuals are still affected by Typhoon Aghon as of now.

Despite this, the Government has stated earlier that they continue to provide the necessary assistance to those affected by the recent typhoon.
