Manila, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs has lowered the alert level in Israel to Alert Level 2 on Monday (June 30).
DFA’s announcement came after the recommendation of the Philippine embassy in Israel last June 24 and the improving situations of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the country.
Alert Level 2 or the Restriction Phase allows essential travel like official, state, and business visits, as well as the return of OFWs with valid re-entry visa and Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC).
Meanwhile, non-essential travelers like pilgrims, tourists, and newly-hired workers are still not permitted to cross the borders of Israel.
Currently, 373 OFWs have requested for repatriation while 75 are already confirmed, and 26 have been repatriated.
According to DFA’s post they are still monitoring the situation in Israel and may change the alert level depending on the situation. – Isa Estrellado, Contributor
