BARMM Region, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has started deploying approximately 10 thousand PNP Personnel in preparation for the upcoming Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) election.
In a press briefing at Camp Crame, PNP chief PGEN. Nicolas Torre III said that a gun ban will be implemented in the entire BARMM from August 14 to October 28.
A total of 9,731 police officers are scheduled to deploy.
Based on data released by the Commission on Election (COMELEC), almost a hundred areas in BARMM are considered election hotspots.
Torre stressed that the steps taken by the organization are part of their mandate to maintain peaceful and credible elections.
Meanwhile, the general once again highlighted the successful operations of the PNP under the 911 response.
He mentioned the hostage drama that occurred in a public market in Baliwag, Bulacan where a hostage victim was rescued and the suspect was arrested.
Before the hostage-taking, the suspect allegedly stabbed two victims.
Here, the PNP proved that there is no need to immediately take anyone’s life if the suspects can be arrested.
Currently, authorities are holding the suspect and are set to file a complaint for attempted homicide frustrated homicide.
The PNP is set to add a health line to 911 for individuals who are experiencing mental health problems.
