Helsinki, Finland – During a town hall meeting conducted by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO)-London this September 17, the Philippine government assured the Filipino community in Helsinki, Finland that they will give them responsive government services and all necessary support and assistance.
DMW gathered overseas Filipinos in Finland for consultation, community engagement, and information sharing, keeping the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. to ensure the welfare, well-being, and comprehensive assistance of OFWs.
The Filipino community was informed of the Philippine government’s intensified fight against illegal trafficking and recruitment and its services readily available for them.
It also paved the way for consultative discussions on the issues and concerns of Filipino workers in Helsinki, including the sharing of insights to further strengthen protection mechanisms and services for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Finland.
This town hall meeting in Helsinki reflected the Philippine government’s commitment to migrant welfare, community partnership, and proactive protection of overseas Filipino workers, especially those who are facing trafficking and abuse risks. – Rose Anne C. Palma, EUROTV News Contributor
