MANILA SUSPENDS CLASSES FOR TWO-DAYS AS INC PEACE RALLY COMMENCES

Manila, Philippines — Mayor Isko Moreno has ordered a citywide suspension of face-to-face classes from pre-school to college on November 17 and 18, 2025, as the city braces for the massive three-day Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) Peaceful Rally for Transparency at Rizal Park.

Domagoso said the decision aims to prevent disruptions for students and teachers due to heavy traffic and large crowds expected during the widely attended assembly.

“Minabuti ng inyong pamahalaang lungsod… para hindi na kayo maabala—yung ating mga guro at mga estudyante—ay kinansela na po natin ang pasok sa eskwela,” the mayor said in a Facebook video statement.

All schools in Manila are instructed to shift to online learning modality for the two-day suspension.

MANILA LGU READIED WELFARE RESPONSE AS INC RALLY COMMENCES

As the first day of rally commences, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) stationed its Medical Response Team, accompanied by doctors from the Manila Health Department.

Manila local government unit said the deployment underscores the city’s commitment to supporting peaceful demonstrations while prioritizing public health and safety.

Meanwhile, the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) also mobilized personnel to assist INC members and supporters attending the rally along the day.

As part of its welfare operations, MDSW served chicken arroz caldo and mineral water across three designated support hubs:

  • San Andres Sports Complex
  • Dapitan Sports Complex
  • Del Pan Sports Complex

The department stated that these efforts aim to ensure the well-being of Manileños and visitors participating in the large-scale event.
