Manila, Philippines – A Pasig City Court found dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo guilty of qualified human trafficking charges over illegal Pogo operations in Tarlac.
The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) confirmed this after the promulgation of the decision on Thursday, with Guo and 15 other co-accussed attended via video conference.
Aside from Guo, three others namely Rachelle Malonzo Carreon, Jaimielyn Cruz, and Walter Wong Rong were also found guilty by the court, with a reclusion perpetua or 40 years of imprisonment sentence.
This is still aside from the imposed P2 million fine for the charges.
It can be recalled that Guo was implicated in the POGO issue after it was known that the raided Zun Yuan Technology hub rents out this space in a leasing company owned by Guo.
These POGO hubs allegedly runs scam operations, and subjecting its employees in trafficking and torture.
With this connection, Guo’s identity was also questioned, with her being identified as the same person as Chinese National Guo Hua Ping.
Her appointment and mayoralty term was then declared void.
September last year when Guo was arrested in Indonesia, after jumping over three countries with an arrest order issued in the Philippines.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
