Brussels, Belgium – Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to multilateralism, and the rule of law, during her attendance at the 4th European Union (EU) Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum in Belgium.
Lazaro also called on countries to abide by international laws which plays an important role in reducing conflicts.
Such as the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) as the legal framework for what should be the activities in the oceans.
Lazaro also met with members of the ministerial meeting to strengthen defense against any physical, cyber and international tactics.
As the secretary reaffirmed the commitment to deepening cooperation in cybersecurity, data protection and others.
She also highlighted the Philippines’ upcoming Chairmanship of ASEAN 2026.
Lazaro said ASEAN serves as a steering and shaping the geopolitical landscape in the region towards a rules-based, secure and prosperous future.
