Tehran, Iran — Since the conflict in the Middle East began, United States President Donald Trump has repeatedly downplayed Iran’s military capabilities following the joint U.S.-Israel airstrikes against the country.
In interviews, speeches, and press conferences, Trump has repeatedly claimed that Iran’s military assets have been gone, particularly its defense capabilities.
Trump has also made similar claims on social media, repeatedly saying that Tehran no longer has the ability to defend itself.
Iran has previously dismissed what it describes as fake news from Trump.
Now, Iran’s government is once again pushing back against these claims.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi described particularly those about Iran’s defense capabilities, as nothing more than fiction.
Instead, Araghchi mocked Washington by sharing a US report detailing ammunition shortages and damage to American military assets during the war.
Araghchi was referring to the U.S. Defense Department report released Monday.
The report said Iranian attacks damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings and structures at U.S. military bases across several countries in the Middle East.
It also said dozens of U.S. fighter jets and other military aircraft were destroyed during the war.
But Araghchi said the losses disclosed in the report were only “the tip of the iceberg.”
He vowed to reveal more of the damage inflicted by Iran soon.
Meanwhile, a watchdog report cited by international media outlet Al Jazeera estimated that more than 30 billion US dollars was spent by Washington on military operations.
More than 180 million U.S. dollars in damage was also reported at U.S. facilities.
Meanwhile, Aragchi also gave a stern warning to those who sold lies against Iran, saying that they will face consequences and it would not be pretty.
