LTO IMPOUNDED 30 UNREGISTERED LUXURY VEHICLES

Manila, Philippines – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) impounded a total of 39 vehicles, including 30 expensive/luxury cars, following an operation conducted by the agency.

The aim of the operation is to ensure motorists’ compliance with existing traffic laws and to safeguard public road safety.

The said luxury vehicles impounded after learning that there is no certificate of registration and the drivers have no drivers license during their operations.

According to LTO Asec. Markus Lacanilao, the impounding of the luxury cars is part of the fair and impartial enforcement of traffic laws, ensuring that all motorists, regardless of the type or value of their vehicle, adhere to regulations.

Lacanilao asserted that they are not targeting luxury vehicles; he said that no matter what type of vehicle, as long as enforcement officers see a violation, it will be automatically flagged down and apprehended.

The LTO is set to meet the Bureau of Customs to verify the documents of the said luxury cars to determine if the vehicles went through the correct process upon their arrival in the country.

Meanwhile, the LTO has issued a Show Cause Order to a father in Echague, Isabela, after a video went viral showing a minor driving a vehicle while it was raining.

In relation to this, Lacanilao instructed the LTO Regional Office #2 in Tuguegarao City, which has jurisdiction over the incident, to suspend the father’s driver’s license for 90 days.

Based on the Show Cause Order, the father is also obliged to submit a written explanation within three (3) days as to why his license should not be suspended or revoked. Failure to respond will be considered a waiver of his right to be heard.

Asec. Lacanilao explained that the minor’s driving was very dangerous and could potentially harm the child and other fellow motorists on the road.
