REP. PAOLO DUTERTE CONDEMNS PLANNED IMPEACHMENT AGAINST VP SARA

Manila, Philippines – Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte condemned the possible filing of a new impeachment complaint against his sister, Vice President Sara Duterte, calling the move “scripted” and rushed.

According to the lawmaker, there are allegations that a majority of those involved are being paid and are conspiring with the administration to unseat the Vice President.

Duterte said it is widely known that in politics, there is no such thing as a free signature. He challenged those planning to support the complaint to first answer to the public what they stand to gain, who ordered them, and to whom they are truly loyal.

He added that lawmakers should consider their accountability to the people, especially if any promised incentives come from public funds.

Earlier, the Makabayan bloc announced its plan to file another impeachment complaint against Vice President Duterte. Malacañang, meanwhile, said it would treat the matter fairly and stressed that anyone who should be held accountable must face accountability.
