Washington, United States — US President Donald Trump has announced an economic warning aimed at Iran and its global trading partners.
In his Truth Social Platform post released Monday, Trump said any country that continues commercial ties with Iran will face a 25% tariff on all trade with the United States.
The president said the policy takes effect immediately, calling the decision final.
The administration has not yet explained how the rule will be enforced.
According to international reports, this announcement could impact major economies that maintain trade ties with Iran.
These include top trading partners such as China, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey, among others.
The move comes as Trump released a post on weekend, indicating his intention to help protesters in Iran.
Currently, Iran faces widespread anti-government protests, sparked by economic hardship and soaring inflation.
Newer ones call for the total end of the current Iranian regime.
According to the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the death toll climbed to 646 during the course of the protest as of today.
Meanwhile, 10,721 were arrested.
Complete internet shutdown and communication disruptions across the country also continue.
It can be recalled, Trump has repeatedly criticized Iran’s leadership and warned that further violence could trigger a stronger US response, including military action.
On the other hand, the Iranian government hits back at the United States, citing intention to retaliate should they intervene.
Iran has yet to issue an official response to the tariff threat.
