“BIR DARES” LAUNCHED AS A REFORM OF COMBATING CORRUPTION

Manila, Philippines – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has launched “BIR DARES,” a five-point reform policy aimed at enhancing service delivery, promoting employee welfare, and combating corruption.

BIR Commissioner Charlito Mendoza said audit reform will be prioritized to ensure that tax audits and assessments are properly and fairly conducted.

Mendoza said these reforms are being carefully designed to ensure that when audits resume, they do so under clearer rules, stronger safeguards, and improved oversight.

The policy was rolled out during the Directors’ Conference held on Friday, January 16, attended by regional directors from Luzon covering Regions I to IX-B, as well as officials from the Large Taxpayers Service.

The DARES initiative will also be cascaded to the Visayas and Mindanao clusters on January 23.
