Manila, Philippines – The local government of Quezon City has released a set of reminders and practical tips to help motorists reduce fuel consumption amid the continued rise in petroleum prices.
According to the city government, drivers can take several simple steps to lower fuel use and save money on daily transportation expenses.
One of the key recommendations is to maintain the correct tire pressure. The LGU noted that vehicles consume more fuel when tires are underinflated.
Motorists were also advised to avoid leaving their engines running for more than a minute while waiting, as unnecessary idling leads to wasted fuel.
In addition, drivers are encouraged to control their speed and avoid sudden braking or rapid acceleration. The city government said these driving habits can increase fuel consumption by as much as 15 to 40 percent.
The Quezon City government also urged residents to consider carpooling or using public transportation to reduce expenses and help protect the environment.
The advisory was issued as global oil prices continue to rise, a situation linked to ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
