Manila, Philippines — Former Department of Budget and Management (DBM) official returns to the agency, now as the new secretary.
Malacañang Palace announced President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s appointment of Kim Robert de Leon as the new DBM secretary, and is set to take his oath on Tuesday.
De Leon previously served as budget undersecretary from 2021 to 2022, before he was transferred at the Transportation department as an undersecretary as well.
With his experience as a budget official, Malacañang recognized his skills in fiscal managemnet and digital transformation.
He likewise served positions at the Office of the President as Director III and Presidential staff officer.
With his appointment, he is now the youngest member of the Marcos cabinet.
Following this announcement, the Malacañang Palace also confirmed the appointment of former DBM officer-in-charge Rolando Toledo as the representative of Leading Associations of Government Employees/Retirees ng Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) board of trustees.
Toledo said he respects Marcos’ decision, expressing support for the new leadership in DBM.
