Iloilo City, Philippines — Iloilo City launches its new program named Project SAFER, also known as Strengthening Actions for Emergency Resilience. The program will run its four-day capacity-building workshop in Barangay Buntatala from July 20 to 23, 2026.
Led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), with its collaboration with the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Social Welfare and Development Office, and the Barangay Council of Buntala.
Moreover, attendees will experience their training on Camp Management Team operations, Camp Coordination and Management, Family Disaster Preparedness, evacuation center, and community-based disaster response to ensure local emergency preparation and response mechanisms
By applying this knowledge into the community, empowering them with skills and tools that are essential before the disaster strikes. Furthermore, the project aims to promote a neatly coordinated, and timely response while reducing risks, preventing panics, and lessen the loss of lives and damages of property during emergencies.
In accordance with the National Disaster Resilience Month 2026, the program objective is to reconstruct high-risk or disaster prone areas into an ideal community of resilience by providing capacity-building, system development, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.—Yzza Pineda, Contributor
