Manila, Philippines — In February, the one year ban on filing of impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte expired, triggering new sets of cases initiated against Duterte starting February 6.
Amid the allegations and then looming complaints, Duterte on February 18, formally announced her plans to run as a president in the 2028 elections.
While her run remains unsure given that the impeachment trial against her is already ongoing, Duterte still enjoys the support of the public.
Based on the June SWS survey, Duterte received higher trust and satisfaction ratings.
Ahead of the elections, Duterte is the most preferred presidential candidate in 2028 elections, according to Pulse Asia.
On the premise that the election happened today, Duterte won the presidency with 49% of votes.
She outvoted Naga Mayor Leni Robredo with 26%, Senator Raffy Tulfo with 14%, DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon ay Baguio Mayor Benjie Magalong with 1% of vote.
Duterte received the highest votes from Mindanao with 87%, followed by Visayas with 53%, National Capital Region with 39% and Balance Luzon with 31%.
DUTERTE ALLIES’ BONG GO, ROBIN PADILLA TOPS VP, SENATORIAL SURVEY
On the same premise that the election happened today, Duterte will be teamed up with known Duterte ally Senator Bong Go, gaining 27% of votes for Vice Presidency.
He outrank Senador Robin Padilla na may 21%, Senador Bam Aquino and former senador Grace Poe with 14%, senador Erwin Tulfo with 9%, while Senator Kiko Pangilinan with 4%.
In the senatorial preference race, Padilla topped the list with 91% of votes. He was the number 1 voted senator during the 2022 elections.
Included in the top 12 are Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, senator raffy Tulfo, Alan Cayetano, Loren Legarda, former senator Manny Pacquiao.
Makati mayor Nancy Binay, DepEd secretary Sonny Angara, Senator Mark Villar, broadcaster Ben Tulfo, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, and host Willie Revillame.
Senator Chiz Escudero, excongressman Mike Defensor, former DILG secretary Mar Roxas, Cabinet Secretary Benhur Abalos, and Senator Lito Lapid.
The survey was conducted on June 28 to July 3 and 6 through face to face interviews with 2,400 participants.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
