Tarlac City, Philippines — Search and rescue operations are continuing for four people who remain missing after the Agana Bridge in Tarlac City collapsed on Saturday amid bad weather conditions.
According to the Tarlac City Government, joint search teams continue to check different areas along the Tarlac River following the bridge collapse.
The incident happened when a Toyota Avanza carrying five people crossed the bridge and was swept away when it collapsed.
The four missing individuals were identified as Paul Harvey Collado, James Patrick Taborlupa, Shiela Mae Taborlupa, and Shanen Tuhao.
Another passenger, Nathaniel Dizon, survived and is currently recovering.
Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap already inspected the site with the Department of Public Works and Highways or DPWH to assess the damage and determine the necessary repairs.
Yap said the inspection is aimed at ensuring that the Agana Bridge will be properly rebuilt and strengthened while search operations continue.
Also, the DPWH are already constructing a temporary bailey bridge to restore road access and reconnect Tarlac City with nearby towns.
