UBJP ASKS NBI TO PROBE VIOLENT INCIDENTS IN COTABATO DURING 1ST BPE

The United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) has called on the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the isolated incidents of violence that occured before and during the 1st BARMM Parliamentary Elections on September 14.

In a letter dated September 15, UBJP Secretary General Mohajirin Ali is hoping that the NBI will continue its probe regarding the incidents in an effort to seek justice for the victims.

Ali noted that while the first parliamentary elections was generally successful, the violent incidents cannot be overlooked, especially that there were casualties and injuries.

UBJP expressed grief over these incidents, citing that some of their supporters were among the victims.

It can be recalled that on the eve of the September 14 elections, a shooting incident erupted near a polling cenetr in Barangay Bagua 2, Cotabato City.

Three were killed while 15 were wounded.

Another shooting incident was reported at Cotabato City Central Pilot School which resulted to one casualty and three individuals injured.

“I hope that what happened here, including the circumstances surrounding the incidents of violence, will be brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities so that they are fully informed of the situation in Cotabato City.”

UBJP is hoping that these cases will not be set aside just because the elections are over.

Ali likewise extended their gratitude to NBI and other related authorities for their assistance and support in securing the region during the election period.–Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
