17 KILLED IN MULTI-VEHICLE CRASH IN KENYA

Nairobi, Kenya — At least 17 people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on a highway at Salama, Kenya early Saturday morning.

Kenyan Police said the crash happened shortly after a truck driver attempted to overtake another truck but failed.

The truck then collided with several vehicles, including a minibus carrying the victims which identified as Catholic pilgrims.

The minibus driver and 16 passengers died at the scene. The pilgrims were reportedly traveling to a prayer site.

Meanwhile, several others sustained injuries while currently receiving treatment. The Kenyan government did not provide any numbers as of the time being.

Kenyan President William Ruto offered condolences to the victims’ families and the Catholic community.

Meanwhile, Kenya’s National Transport and Safety Authority has launched an investigation into the crash.
