AT LEAST 9 AGREEMENT INKED BETWEEN PH AND QATAR

Manila Philippines — At least nine agreements were signed during the visit of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad AL Thani of Qatar to the Philippines, Monday.

This includes the Memorandum of Understanding between the government of Qatar and the Philippines IN strengthening ties and promoting bilateral relations in the suppression of human trafficking, as well as seafarers welfare, tourism, sports and even climate change.

The two countries also agreed on the suppression of human rights, specifically the implementation of labor protections, promotion of public awareness and exchange of studies and research.

“Both parties agreed to work together to combat human trafficking, including advancing labor protection in both countries, through exchange of expertise in the field of legislation and exchange of studies and research,” said in an agreement.

It also strengthened the existing agreement between the two countries for collaboration and establishment of climate transformative actions aligned with climate action under the 2016 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Some other agreements are related to trade, youth and the visa waiver for those who have diplomatic and special or official passports.

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce have agreed on a more comprehensive relationship in the field of trade and investment and doing business.

According to President Bongbong Marcos, these agreements reflect the deepening relationship between Qatar and the Philippines for 43 years.
