The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has revoked the driver’s licenses of two taxi drivers involved in a gas-and-run incident.
According to LTO, they found out that one was driving the taxi when the incident happened, while the other was its designated driver.
In a CCTV footage shared by a gas personnel during the incident, it was seen that a driver filled up its taxi, amounting to over P2,000 but they left without paying. The personnel took its frustration to social media and appealed to netizens about their whereabouts.
Both are disqualified from obtaining a new driver’s license for two years.
The penalties were imposed after an LTO hearing on October 27, 2026, where the two drivers were given a chance to explain their actions. However, the agency said they failed to provide sufficient explanations.
The drivers’ licenses have been confiscated, and the taxi used in the incident has been placed under impoundment.
The case follows an earlier appearance by the taxi driver at the LTO Central Office on October 19, after the vehicle’s registered owner or operator surrendered him upon receiving a Show Cause Order from the agency.
The LTO stressed that drivers are responsible not only for road safety but also for acting honestly and fulfilling their obligations.
The agency said it will hold motorists accountable for violations in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
