PRICES OF RICE, FISH HIKES IN THE 1ST QUARTER OF JAN, OTHER AGRI-COMMODITIES DROPS — PSA

The Philippine Statistics Authority has seen a slight upward movement in the price of well-milled in the first phase of January 2024.

According to its data, in the first phase of January 2024, the average retail price of a kilogram of well-milled rice was PhP 55.50 nationwide.

This was substantially higher than the average retail prices in the second phase of December 2023 at PhP 54.76 per kilogram and in the first phase of December 2023 at PhP 54.34 per kilogram.

The PSA also released the price situation for the other agricultural commodities.

In the first phase of January, a kilogram of dressed chicken had an average retail price of PHP194.41.

This is lower than the average price of PHP194.88 per kilo in the second phase of December 2023 and PHP194.76 per kilo in the first phase of December 2023.

Meanwhile, a kilogram of Galunggong had an increase in the average retail price, which reached PHP206.96 during the first phase of January.

Higher than the average retail prices of PhP 203.70 per kilogram in the second phase of December 2023 and PhP 203.80 per kilogram in the first phase of December 2023.

Per kilo of red onion drops to 199.10 pesos per kilo nationwide in the first phase of January 2024.

This was lower than its average retail prices of PhP 207.79 per kilogram in the second phase of December 2023 and in the first phase of December 2023 at PhP 210.25 per kilogram.

A slight decrease was also monitored in the average retail price of brown sugar, which dropped to 79.03 pesos in the first phase of January.

Lower than the average retail price recorded in the second phase of December 2023, which is PHP 79.74 pesos per kilogram, and 80.15 pesos per kilogram in the first phase of December 2023.
