Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque has publicly denied any possession of a house in Tuba, Benguet, which was raided by law enforcement over the weekend. The operation led to the arrest of two foreign nationals, including a Chinese fugitive linked to illegal gaming activities.
In a recent Senate inquiry, Harry Roque clarified his connection to the property that was raided in Tuba, Benguet.
He stated, “I have an interest in the corporation that owns it,” emphasizing that while he previously lived in the house, he does not possess it as it has been leased out since January 2024.
“Ang bahay po na tinutukoy niyo sa Tuba, Benguet ay rehistrado po sa isang korporasyon. Tinirhan ko po ‘yan noong ako ay umalis ng gobyerno and I do have an interest in the corporation that owns it. Pero wala po sa akin ang possession ng bahay na ‘yan, dahil as of January of 2024, ‘yan po ay pinaupahan ng korporasyon,” Roque explained.

The raid was part of an operation targeting a wanted Chinese national, who was reportedly renting the property.
Roque noted that the lessee, a Chinese national, was required to present an alien certificate of registration, confirming her legal status in the Philippines.
“At ang umuupa po ay isang Chinese national. Noong siya po ay pumirma sa contract of lease ay ni-require siya na magpakita ng alien certificate of registration at lumalabas po na siya ay holder ng 9G working visa meaning she has a right to be in the Philippines,” he stated.

Roque reiterated, “Hindi ko po dine-deny — that is a house that I have interest in. I have lived in the house. Ang sinasabi ko lang po pinaupahan po ‘yan and possession is now with the lessee,” emphasizing the possession of the lessee.
