The global influence of Filipino drag queens continues to grow as Gigi Ferocious, a queen of Filipino descent, has been confirmed for the upcoming season of “Drag Race Thailand.” This announcement was made in the “Meet The Queens” video for the show’s third season.
Gigi Ferocious is now the third queen of Filipino descent to join “Drag Race Thailand,” following Jaja in Season 1 and Mocha Diva in Season 2. The show is set to make its return after a break since its second season aired in 2019, with new episodes starting on October 16.
In the Philippines, “Drag Race Philippines” has crowned two winners: Precious Paula Nicole in 2022 and Captivating Katkat in 2023.
The Emmy Award-winning original “Drag Race” series has featured many Filipino drag queens in its various international editions, including the US franchise, with notable contestants like Ongina, Manila Luzon, and Jiggly Caliente. Filipino drag queens have also participated in other international franchises, including “Drag Race Canada” and “Drag Race UK.”
